Calls for quickly moving vehicles with broken ball joints continue to grow. While many use skates or GoJacks, many towers find that their ability to safely load and secure a vehicle these vehicles, especially aluminum beds, on their roll back wreckers that they need a studier device.

Steck’s 4th Wheel Loader is a tough 24” x 14” hardened aluminum fabricated platform with two 4” x 10” Polypropylene roller wheels, six 5/8” holes for mini-J hooks for loading assistance and 1” axles which provides a safe platform to easily hold and secure up to 5 tons while loading a vehicle. The 4th Wheel Loader also includes two shims that allow the driver to raise the vehicle with busted ball joints, lost wheels and severely bent axles and place it at a desired height for secure loading on the roll back. The Loader is 4” high (without shim blocks) with a built in 6” X 1 ¼” handle which will allow you to store the 25 lb. Loader behind your seat or tool box. Quicker loading and unloading while preventing further damage to vehicles by allowing the driver to center, pull and properly secure the vehicle on the roll back bed as well as preventing bed damage to the roll back.

We have also found that the shops where the towers drop the damaged vehicle has a similar problem because Go-Jacks do not work well outdoors, which result in many damaged floor jacks trying to move the vehicle into the shop. The 4th Wheel Loader with its two Polypropylene wheels works well in gravel and dirt to move the vehicle directly into the repair bays and frame racks.

It is late afternoon, early evening, and a service request comes in for a battery boost in a remote part of our territory. It’s the middle of a shift change, with the day shift is coming in and the night crew getting set to deploy.

Our Ford F450 Dynamic service truck, equipped with a battery tester and a supply of AAA batteries, is sent to assist the stranded AAA member. The service technician is able to test the disabled vehicle’s battery and electrical system in an effort to get the vehicle running under its own power. If necessary, the tech can even install a new AAA branded battery in the vehicle at the breakdown site. However, this time, the battery is not the cause of the breakdown. In many cases, the service tech needs to call for additional assistance. We don’t have to dispatch a tow vehicle to complete the service call and tow the customer to their repair facility; our Dynamic service truck can handle the job. This service truck is equipped with a 3500 lb. self loading wheel lift. The AAA member does not have to wait for another vehicle to arrive, and we do not have to send multiple vehicles to the same breakdown location.

Our Dynamic service vehicle is equipped with large storage boxes to hold enough AAA batteries to cover most vehicles on the road. The boxes have adjustable shelves with tie-downs so the batteries are secured at all times while in motion. Additional tool box compartments are also installed to accommodate all normal roadside assistance tools and equipment as well as an air compressor with front and rear quick disconnects to allow the tech complete flexibility to service vehicles in all positions.
Even with the additional storage boxes, the center deck is still open for additional storage of equipment.
